5 Mythen über Europa

Die Washington Post beschreibt fünf Mythen über das alte, kranke Europa:

  1. The sclerotic European economy is incapable of leading the world
  2. Nobody wants to invest in European companies and economies because lack of competitiveness makes them a poor bet
  3. Europe is the land of double-digit unemployment
  4. The European “welfare state” hamstrings businesses and hurts the economy
  5. Europe is likely to be held hostage to its dependence on Russia and the Middle East for most of its energy needs

Als Europäer freut es mich, dass die Washington Post diese Mythen über Europa in dieser Art und Weise zu-recht-rückt. Genauso klar ist aber auch, dass diese Mythen natürlich nicht grundlos entstanden sind – wir Europäer müssen uns m.E. anstrengen, sowohl wirtschaftlich wie politisch aber auch kulturell und wissenschaftlich uns auf unsere Stärken zu konzentrieren und diese nicht nur nach besten Wissen und Gewissen sondern auch mit viel Einsatz weiter zu verbessern.
